Visiting Professor Ouchi receives the Prime Minister's Award at the 16th Award for Merit in Promoting a Nation of Maritime Nations.

On 29 August 2023, an award ceremony was held in the Main Hall on the second floor of the Prime Minister's Official Residence for the 16th Award for Outstanding Achievement in Promoting a Maritime Nation (Prime Minister's Award), which is organised by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Ministry of the Environment in cooperation with the Secretariat for Ocean Policy Promotion, Cabinet Office. The award was presented to Visiting Professor Kazuyuki Ouchi in the field of "Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Oceanography".

This is due to the fact that Prof. Ouchi's research achievements to date have contributed to "energy savings in large ships through the development of rigid-wing sails that utilis wind power and add-ons that increase propeller efficiency".
